SHIBUI COLLECTION

by Elise Heslop

Our latest Shibui collection was created with a clear vision of simplicity and subtle but important details.  Its namesake is as Japanese concept, much like Wabi-sabi, where Shibui refers to an aesthetic of simple, subtle and unobtrusive beauty.

Shibui objects appear to be simple overall but include subtle details that balance simplicity
with complexity, so that you are constantly finding new meanings and enriched beauty within that object, causing its aesthetic value to grow over time.

With our visual story we wanted to bring an air of zen-like calm,  offering elements of nostalgia, coupled with a clean, contemporary aesthetic.

With this collection our vision has been to create a style that is both simple and selective.  Paying homage to our influences in Japanese design, with elements of European flavour. The result we feel is a collection that is uniquely Australian - modern, open-minded, effortless and unassuming.
