CM Studio, an award-winning multidisciplinary architecture studio based in Sydney, embraces the same sensibilities of simplicity, a pared-back approach to design and sense of practicality that we so thoroughly revere at Plyroom. As you can imagine, we were delighted to see our minimalist furniture specified in their latest project – an addition and alteration to a Bronte residence.
Designed for life
Just as our products are designed to adapt with a family’s changing needs over time, CM Studio ensured the Bronte residence is also evolutive in design – methodically considered to accommodate the professional couple and their two young girls both now and into the future.
Megan Burns, co-founder of CM Studio tells Habitus -
‘This a home suited to the way this family lives, promoting a better quality of life, and fine-tuned for a variety of experiences, needs and desires within their family unit.’
Minimalist furniture and durable finishes
This is also reflective in the application of durable materials such as concrete, steel and exposed brick which is softened by elements of natural materials such as wooden detailing, indoor plants, leather and the blonde birch of our minimalist furniture.
Modern Bedroom Storage
Ample storage is also utilised to reduce clutter and cultivate a sense of calm environment for the young family. Currently sharing a bedroom, the girls will eventually transition into their own rooms. In the interim, modern bedroom storage has been used in their bedroom to maintain the minimalist aesthetic and harmony by providing adequate space for each child to house their belongings.
Beds with storage
Thank you to Megan and Christopher of cm studio for championing beauty in simplicity, usability and intentional longevity within a society preoccupied by excess and designed-obsolescence.
