Denfair 2017

At the beginning of June Plyroom exhibited at Denfair, a trade event bringing together leading companies and thought leaders in contemporary Australian interior and industrial design. Held over three days in Melbourne, Denfair has a strong focus on emerging and established Australian brands. Having just launched our locally made and designed Shibui Collection we decided to get involved as an opportunity to share the new collection and designer kid’s furniture with our fellow designers and interior enthusiasts alike.

Our humble and organic olive-green stand sat alongside inconceivable constructions of steel, chrome and illuminated forms. Admittedly intimidated in such a context we were quickly warmed by the positive reception we received. The ability to see and feel our pieces in person had people falling in love with the Shibui shelving and our modern children’s furniture, captivated by the natural grain, structural integrity and considered details.

As our philosophy encapsulates designing modern children’s furniture for a simpler and more flexible way of living, we chose to exhibit our Dream Cloud Loft Bed - a modern bunk bed that enhances both the space and happiness of those who experience it. The Dream Cloud Loft Bed proved a favorite, as did our Sweden Vessel that we utilised as a planter for our olive tree centerpiece.

Wandering the exhibition, we found ourselves overwhelmed with inspiration. From an amass of umbrellas and earthy moss at Great Dane, to the soft glow of lanterns at AJAR, and the smooth woodwork from Japanese Apato, Denfair was full of stimulation, ingenuity, craftsmanship and discovery.
